In the process of integrating the norms of international criminal and humanitarian law into Ukrainian legislation, attention is focused on interaction with the International Criminal Court, ratification of the Rome Statute and its implementation into the national legal system, the stages of Ukraine’s becoming a fully-fledged party to the Rome Statute and outlining the real scope of investigation and prosecution for war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity committed on the territory of Ukraine during the Russian aggression.

The ratification of the Rome Statute and its further implementation have a positive impact on the international image of Ukraine as a country that seeks to ensure the rule of law and end impunity for international crimes. An important component of this system is the creation of conditions for the effective functioning of national justice in the context of international armed conflict, which requires further adaptation of both substantive and procedural law.

Thus, the implementation of the provisions of the Rome Statute at the national level opens up new opportunities for Ukraine in the field of international justice, strengthens

its position in the international arena and makes a significant contribution to combating impunity for war crimes. Ukraine’s special path has formed a model for further research by countries that are currently on the path to ratification of the Rome Statute.
