Destroyed Orikhov
Almost every day, the Russians bomb Orikhov with guided aerial bombs. Eighteen kilometers away is the village of Robotino, which became the site of the most violent battles in the summer of 2023 during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Cultural heritage sites have been destroyed. In particular, one of the city’s gems is the House of Shopping Arcades, built at the end of the 19th century. Entire neighborhoods with dozens of multi-story buildings have been destroyed. Orikhov has significant problems with centralized water supply, gas, and electricity.
About 800 people remain in the city, which is 90% destroyed. The State Emergency Service, police, and volunteers, despite the enormous danger, bring water, food, and clothing to residents who refuse to evacuate.
Humanitarian missions are also becoming targets of attacks by the occupiers. Last year, the Russians shelled and destroyed the local Point of Invincibility, where 25 civilians were at the time. Seven people were killed.
