Daily merciless shelling by the Russian army and the lack of life support systems force people to leave their homes, packing their entire lives in a go-bag. The “dragon’s teeth” installed in the residential areas of Pokrovsk eloquently indicate that the city is preparing for defense and it is too dangerous to be there.

The authorities warned there would be no heating this year but promised to set up heating centers.

At the beginning of the full-scale war, the population of Pokrovsk was about 60,000 people, and Mirnohrad was almost 50,000. Over the past two months, more than 30,000 people have left these cities.

The head of the Donetsk OVA, Vadim Filashkin, reported on the air via telethon “Yedini Novyny” that about 3,000 people remain in Mirnohrad, and 2,500 minors were evacuated. More than 12,000 adults and 59 children remain in Pokrovsk.

The evacuation from Pokrovsk and Mirnohrad is presented in our photo selection from Serhii Okunev.
