The Church of St. John the Theologian in Kharkiv experienced various times. For a long time, it was the only pro-Ukrainian Orthodox church in the city, and it was contaminated by the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church.
In our interview, the head of the temple, Father Viktor Marynchak, says he does not allow himself to show emotions. The war presented complicated tasks to Father Viktor, Father Hennadii, and other Ukrainian priests.
Military funerals, weddings, and the dedication of the Ukrainian scout organization “Plast” — events from the life of the Church of John the Theologian can be seen in the photographs of photographer Jerome Barbosa.
